When I was about 11 or 12, I discovered my favorite pop group ever...the New Kids on the Block. I begged my mom to let me go to their concert then, but she wouldn't allow it. So I was relegated to coveting my friends' NKOTB shirts when they came to school after the concert. I thought I had lost my chance--until they announced a reunion tour last spring. I bought tickets the day they went on sale, and Wednesday night my friend Carolyn and I went to the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia to join an arena filled with screaming white women in their 20's or 30's in reliving our preteendom. It was glorious. As a side note, Natasha Bedingfield opened for them. She was WAY more impressive live than any recording of her I've ever heard.
